Elisha Ooga

Passionate about empowering communities through education, Elisha Ooga is the visionary behind Welicar Educational Centre. With a strong background in project management and community development, Elisha excels in defining clear goals and fostering a collaborative environment where every team member thrives.

His expertise lies in effective delegation, strategic planning, and maintaining open channels of communication. Elisha believes in the power of feedback and regularly conducts meetings to ensure the team is aligned with their shared vision. By managing project budgets and coordinating with partners, sponsors, and donors, he ensures that every initiative is executed seamlessly from concept to delivery.

When he’s not leading transformational projects, Elisha enjoys exploring
innovative solutions and crafting plans that adapt to any challenge. His dedication to creating meaningful educational opportunities inspires all those at Welicar Educational Centre.

Rim Hermessi

Rim Hermessi is an engineer with a background in life sciences through a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Biology Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of Tunis (INSAT) and a research Thesis at Concordia University of Montréal. she focuses on sustainability and renewable energies, showcasing a couple of awards in scientific innovation (i.e. Mitacs Globalink Award 2022, Falling Walls Tunisia Award 2021) and a track record in environmental consulting and climate activism. Hermessi is also a multidisciplinary artist whose focus lies in the realm of analog technologies. Her work explores the intersection of art, science, and social issues giving prominence to themes such as femininity, displacement, and post-
coloniality.

Rim brings a wealth of experience in sustainability, climate change research, and project management to the Welicar Educational center.
In her role, she leads and implements sustainable projects initiatives (e.g. renewable energy systems, water filtration, waste management, climate-resilient infrastructure…etc.) while documenting the environmental and social impact of the organization’s activities for reports and statements publication purposes (best practices, future projects planning, case studies, resources allocation, public transparency…etc.).
She also develops and executes outreach strategies to engage with potential donors, partners, and volunteers, expanding the NGO’s network and ensuring stakeholders and donors collaboration. Her expertise is instrumental in identifying and securing funding to support our
development projects and overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring phases adherent to project management frameworks. Additionally, community engagement is a key part of her responsibilities (e.g. workshops, conferences, awareness events …etc.) as Welicar’s goals and objectives are centered around youth education in an effort to create a more sustainable and equitable future for the children in the Kibera Slums of Nairobi.
